TRAVEL HAPPY • We shine the spotlight on caravanners, their rigs and their travel tales

HOW TO WIN

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU • The $100k+ 3500kg ATM family van is a booming category in the RV market with plenty of stiff competition. The Kokoda Force 8 is a strong contender in this space.

UNDERSTANDING CARAVAN WEIGHTS • The acronyms and calculations behind caravan weight can be a very confusing topic, even among seasoned caravanners, but taking the time to understand it is essential.

ANNE BEADELL HIGHWAY • The Anne Beadell Highway stretches 1320km across the Great Victoria Desert, connecting Coober Pedy (SA) with Laverton (WA). It was surveyed and built in five stages between 1953 and 1962 by the legendary Len Beadell and his Gunbarrel Road Construction Party, and named after his wife, Anne.

PACKS A PUNCH • We took the Victory Trophy Series 146 single- axle van out for a spin, and as they say, good things come in small packages.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS • Many parts of the eastern states were impacted by floods last year which meant a change of plans for many campers who normally spend their summer holidays along popular lakes and rivers. But many communities are open for business and welcoming tourists this summer.

PARADISE ON THE BEATEN TRACK • The trip from Newcastle to Taree on the mid north coast of NSW can take two hours. Caravan World thinks two weeks is a much better option with some of NSW's best beachside caravan parks to stay at and enjoy.

APOLLO FACTORY TOUR • Apollo is one of Australia's largest RV manufacturers. It's time we looked at their vast production facility in Queensland.

TRUE GRIT • Manufactured with all the right stuff in south-east Queensland, this van has a lot to like. OFFROAD GRIT RV's more than 20 years’ experience in boat building has provided a wealth of relevant knowledge in the art of creating a great caravan. It could almost sail the seven seas but will stay firmly on the ground.
