The Gambia Saga - this is Devanney's 3rd major publication, his second on Africa; he and his wife, Louanne founded of the NS Gambia Society... this is their 38 year story. Burris has worked in Africa back and forth for 55+ years and this title represents a myriad of those experiences and quality writing ... a kind of memoir, not just of his experiences, but those of others who subsequently contributed to its success, as well as an awesome story of dedication, hard work and resilience, along with some luck along the way. Several universities, including SMU, DAL, UCCB, local high schools and members of the NS community were heavily involved, including medical, health and other professionals, with some 800 Nova Scotians involved in travelling to The Gambia. Literally thousands of Nova Scotians and Gambians know different aspects or were directly involved in this 402 page story.
